What are the 4 types of rental camper?

  • Campervan (2 people). A van converted for travelling: a bed, a small kitchen and storage. Usually no bathroom. Easy to drive and park, and the cheapest option.
  • Larger campervan (3 to 5 people). A high-roof van with more beds, often a pop-top or a second bed over the cab. Some have a small toilet.
  • Motorhome (2 to 4 people). A vehicle built as a small home on a truck base, usually with a bathroom (toilet and shower), a full kitchen and more space. In the USA this is a Class C RV.
  • Family motorhome (5 to 6 people). The largest rentals: separate sleeping areas, bathroom and kitchen for families or groups.

Campervan, motorhome or RV?

  • Campervan: cheapest, easiest to drive, best for couples in good weather.
  • Motorhome: own bathroom and more space, best for families, cold weather and longer trips.
  • RV: the American name for a motorhome. Class C is the usual rental, Class B is a campervan, Class A is a large bus-style vehicle.
