Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before you hit the road.

How do I find my reservation?

Go to My Account, enter the email address you used when booking, and you'll be redirected to our booking partner where you can view and manage your reservation.

Can I modify or cancel my booking?

Yes. Access your reservation through My Account and follow the modification or cancellation steps. Cancellation policies vary by rental company — check your booking confirmation for details.

What insurance options are available?

Insurance options depend on the rental company. Most offer basic coverage included in the price, with optional upgrades for reduced excess, windscreen, gravel and sand & ash protection. You can compare options when searching for vehicles.

What documents do I need at pick-up?

Typically a valid driver's license (an international permit is recommended outside your home country), a credit card in the driver's name for the security deposit, and your booking confirmation. Some countries may require extra documents.

What is the minimum age to rent a campervan?

Most rental companies require the main driver to be at least 21, and to have held a full driving licence for at least one year. Some vehicles or countries set the minimum at 18 or 25, and drivers under about 25 may pay a small young-driver surcharge. The exact age policy is shown on each offer when you compare.

Do I need to pay a security deposit?

Yes. Almost every rental company holds a refundable security deposit (also called a bond or excess) on the main driver's credit card at pick-up, and releases it after the van is returned undamaged. The amount varies by company and vehicle; choosing extra insurance to reduce your excess usually lowers the deposit too.

Is mileage included?

Many campervan and motorhome rentals include unlimited mileage, while others give a set daily or total kilometre allowance with a small charge for extra kilometres. Each offer shows its mileage policy clearly, so you can compare before you book.

What equipment and extras come with the campervan?

Rentals normally come fully equipped for the road — a kitchen with stove, sink, fridge and cooking utensils, plus a fresh-water tank and, on most vehicles, bedding and towels. Optional extras such as camping chairs and tables, bike racks, GPS, child seats, extra drivers or a free 1 GB eSIM* can be added when you book. Inclusions are listed on each vehicle.

Can I pick up and drop off in different locations (one-way)?

Many rental companies allow one-way trips between their depots — for example collecting in one city and dropping off in another. A one-way drop-off fee usually applies and depends on the route and season. When you search two different pick-up and drop-off points, only the companies that offer that route and their fees are shown.

Are campervans pet-friendly?

Some rental companies welcome pets in their vehicles, often for a small cleaning fee, while others don't allow them. Use the pet-friendly filter when searching and check the specific company's policy before booking so you and your dog are covered.

Which rental companies can I book through CampervanPlanet?

We compare 140+ trusted campervan and motorhome brands worldwide — from major operators like McRent, Touring Cars, Indie Campers, Apollo, Britz, Maui, Jucy and Cruise America to quality local specialists in each destination. You always book directly with the rental company at the price you see.

Do I have to pay tolls, ferries or road charges?

In most countries the driver pays road tolls, car ferries, city congestion charges and any required vignettes directly. Some vehicles come fitted with an electronic toll tag (for example AutoPASS in Norway) and the charges are billed to the rental company and passed on to you afterwards — check your rental terms for how tolls are handled.

Can I drive the campervan across international borders?

Cross-border travel is allowed by many companies within a region — for example across mainland Europe or Scandinavia — sometimes with prior notice or a small fee, though some restrict certain countries. Always confirm the cross-border policy with the rental company before you set off.

How does CampervanPlanet work?

We compare prices from trusted campervan and motorhome rental companies worldwide. Search your destination, compare vehicles and prices side-by-side, and book directly with the rental company. No extra fees — the price you see is the price you pay.
