Most fleets are based in Frankton, next to Queenstown Airport (ZQN), 15 minutes' drive from the town centre. Some companies also hand over vehicles in the town centre, by the waterfront. 11 companies in this study had pick-ups in Queenstown. Our search prices each company's Queenstown pick-up as a single location, so it does not tell airport and city depots apart.

This study measured round trips from Queenstown only. On 3 November 2026 we searched the CampervanPlanet booking engine for 7-night rentals for 2 people, picked up and returned in Queenstown, one sample week every month from November 2026 to October 2027: 589 prices for 53 vehicles from 11 rental companies. Price per day = rental price for 7 nights divided by 7, for every company. Typical = median price per day. Prices are the rental price shown in our search in New Zealand dollars; excess cover, extras, anything paid at pick-up and the bond are not included. Rooftop tents are excluded. Prices change with dates and availability.
