rent easy is the Erwin Hymer Group's premium rental brand, and it shows. The fleet averages five months old, and every Hymer, Bürstner, Carado and Etrusco gets replaced within 24 months. 42 stations across 13 European countries, from Reykjavik to Limassol, with low-season rates from €70 a night.
rent easy is the premium rental arm of the Erwin Hymer Group — the German giant that builds Hymer, Carado, Bürstner and Etrusco motorhomes. Founded in 2016, it's run by Rental Alliance GmbH from Isny im Allgäu, the same outfit behind sister brand McRent. Every station sits at an authorised Hymer Group dealership, and the vans roll in straight from the group's own production lines. The practical payoff is fleet age: the average rent easy vehicle is about five months old, and nothing stays in service beyond 24 months. As of mid-2026 the network spans 42 stations in 13 European countries, 23 of them in Germany. Since 2019, the whole group has been owned by US-listed THOR Industries.
Five lines, three tiers each. City, Active, Family, Exclusive and Premium come in Classic, Extra and First versions — 15 core categories, plus 4x4 Adventure variants at some German stations. City means campervans: the City Classic is a Bürstner Copa C 500 pop-top sleeping four, kitchenette but no bathroom. Active covers compact semi- and fully integrated coachbuilts, mostly two-berth — couples' territory. Family does the heavy lifting — the Family Extra, a Carado A 361 alcove, sleeps six on five belted seats. Exclusive runs upmarket Hymers like the ML-T 580, while Premium tops out with the 8.86-metre Bürstner Argos A 747-2 G: six berths, six seats. Every model is listed "or similar" — the fleet renews so fast that exact vans rotate constantly.
Every rent easy station sits at an authorised Erwin Hymer Group dealership, so the people handing over the keys also service the vans. Germany holds 23 of the 42 pickup points; the UK has been dropped.
rent easy runs 42 stations in 13 European countries, all based at Erwin Hymer Group dealerships. Germany has the densest network with 23 stations, including Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart. Italy has five (Varese, Monza, Modena, Turin and Naples), Poland three, Portugal two (Lisbon and Porto), plus single stations in Marseille, Athens, Prague, Bucharest, Reykjavik, Stockholm, Bodø, Lemmer and Limassol in Cyprus. The UK has been discontinued, whatever older listings still claim.
Fully comprehensive and partial cover insurance come as standard, each with a EUR 1,500 excess per claim, plus third-party liability and the manufacturer's mobility guarantee. You also get 250 km per day, sat-nav, a bike rack, an awning, two gas bottles, toilet chemicals and exterior cleaning included. A EUR 1,500 security deposit is blocked on a Visa or Mastercard credit card at pickup. To cut the excess to EUR 250, rent easy brokers an Ergo protection package at EUR 13.90 per travel day.
Minimum age is 21, with a licence held for at least one year. A standard category B licence covers everything up to 3.5 tonnes, which is most of the fleet. The heavier groups (Exclusive Extra, Exclusive First and the whole Premium line) exceed 3.5 tonnes, so there you must be 25, have held your licence for three years and carry a C1 entitlement. Check this before booking the 8.86-metre Bürstner Argos alcove in Premium Extra; it sits firmly in C1 territory.
One-way rentals are only possible by special agreement under rent easy's rental conditions, so don't plan on returning a Munich van in Hamburg unless the station has confirmed it in writing. Cross-border travel is far simpler: journeys anywhere within Europe are permitted as standard, while trips outside Europe need the rental company's prior approval. War and crisis zones are banned outright. If your route includes a non-EU detour, clear it with the station before departure.
You get 250 km per day, and everything becomes unlimited from the 15th rental day. Extra 500 km packages cost EUR 110; overage without one runs EUR 0.30 per kilometre. For German rentals between 10 November and 31 March a EUR 99 winter service package is mandatory, and snow chains cost EUR 85. Pets travel only with the station's explicit approval, at EUR 150. Turn up with an unannounced dog and you risk a cleaning charge starting at EUR 180.
Search your dates and pickup city on CampervanPlanet and we line rent easy up against rival operators in the same location, so you can judge whether the premium is worth paying before you commit. A few rent easy specifics: you confirm a vehicle group rather than an exact model, a 30% deposit (minimum EUR 300) secures the booking, the balance falls due 40 days before pickup, and a one-off service fee of EUR 145 to EUR 160 applies on top of the nightly rate. Minimum rental is around five nights.
