The short answer

Which is better, McRent or Touring Cars?

McRent is the better pick for a cheaper motorhome across more of Europe, for Germany, the Alps, Iberia, Ireland and Poland, and for a lower excess in Finland; Touring Cars is the better pick in the Nordics if you want an automatic, a 4x4 van, 6 berths, the kitchen kit in the price or your dog on board, and it is the only one of the two we sell in the UK.

In our booking engine search of 20 October 2026 for 11 to 18 May 2027, McRent started at €264 a day in Keflavík against €318 for Touring Cars, at SEK 1,236 (≈ €109) against SEK 1,772 (≈ €157) in Stockholm and at NOK 2,165 (≈ €200) against NOK 2,365 (≈ €218) in Oslo; in Helsinki Touring Cars was cheaper, from €134 against €142.

Both include unlimited mileage, list a toilet and shower on every vehicle we found and hold a security deposit at pickup equal to the excess: €2,800 at both in Iceland, and €1,200 at McRent against €2,800 at Touring Cars in Finland.

McRent is for you if

You want more countries, a lower price and a cross-border one-way

McRent is bookable with us in 13 countries, from Iceland and Norway to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Poland and New Zealand. Its median vehicle was cheaper in 10 of 12 country and season pairs of our October 2026 index, and a one-way between countries usually costs a flat €150 to €750. The weak spots: almost every model we found is manual, there is no 4x4, bedding, towels and the camping set are paid extras, the excess (€2,000 in Germany, €2,800 in Iceland) can be reduced but never removed, and pets need McRent's approval and are not allowed in Iceland.
