McRent FAQ

McRent runs more than 80 pick-up stations across 25+ European countries, plus additional stations in New Zealand. The biggest concentration is in Germany (35+ stations), followed by Italy, Spain, France, and the Nordics. Most stations are at major airports or close to city centres. You can pick up in one country and drop off in another for a flat one-way fee, see the Countries section above for the full list.

Every McRent booking includes unlimited mileage , comprehensive insurance with a deductible (€1,500 standard, reducible to €0 with the Premium package), 24/7 European roadside assistance, and a basic kitchen kit. Bedding, camping chairs, GPS and bike racks are optional extras you can add at booking. Toll badges for Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia are pre-installed on most stations.

McRent's official policy is that no motorhome in the fleet is older than two years. The fleet is renewed continuously, so the typical vehicle you receive is between 6 months and 24 months old. All vehicles are built by brands within the Erwin Hymer Group. Knaus, Sunlight, Weinsberg, Hymer and Bürstner, and come with the manufacturer's warranty still active.

Yes. McRent allows travel in all EU countries plus Switzerland, Norway, the UK, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco and San Marino as standard. Travel into the Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia), Turkey, Morocco and Eastern European non-EU countries usually requires written permission and an additional fee. Always declare your route at booking.

The main driver must be at least 21 years old and have held a Category B (car) licence for at least 12 months. Some heavier Family models (over 3.5 tonnes) require a Category C1 licence, relevant if you have a German or Austrian licence issued after 1999. Drivers under 25 may pay a young-driver surcharge of €5–€10 per day depending on the station.

McRent's one-way network is the largest in Europe. You can pick up in one McRent station and drop off in another for a flat fee instead of a per-kilometre charge. Typical one-way fees range from €150 (e.g. Munich → Salzburg) to €750 (e.g. Lisbon → Helsinki). Some routes are seasonal, for example, north-to-south one-ways in autumn often cost less because McRent needs the vehicles repositioned for winter.
