Who they are

About Travellers Autobarn

Travellers Autobarn is a budget campervan company with bases in Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Its vans are older than those of the big brands, built on Toyota Hiace vans in Australia and New Zealand and on Chevrolet Express and Ford Transit vans in the United States, with newer interior fit-outs. Most models have no toilet or shower: they are made for travellers who sleep in the van and use campsite facilities.

In Australia the models in our search are the Budgie Van and Chubby Camper for two, the Hitop for up to three (all three manual) and the automatic Kuga. Sleeping bags, pillows, sheets and kitchen gear are included, with unlimited kilometres and 24-hour roadside assistance. In New Zealand all five models are automatic, including the Station Wagon, an estate car with no bed inside, and the Hi5 for families, the only model with a fixed cassette toilet. In the United States the range adds the MiniVan and the Beeva Camper.

On CampervanPlanet you pay a deposit online and the rest of the rental to Travellers Autobarn at pickup; paying that balance by card adds a surcharge (2.9% in Australia and New Zealand, 4% in the United States). You can compare it with the other companies in Australia and in New Zealand.
