A Madrid-based motorhome rental company running since 1986, Autocaravan Express rents an all-Carado fleet on Fiat Ducato chassis, sleeping 2 to 6. Pick up in Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia or Bilbao, with unlimited mileage on hires of seven days or more.
Autocaravan Express is a Spanish motorhome and campervan rental pioneer, on the road since 1986, when it registered its first vehicle that November. It is independent and owner-managed, run by sole administrator Jorge Miñana Palacio, and trades under the legal entity Autocaravan Express, S.A. The base sits north of the capital at Autovía A-1, km 24, San Sebastián de los Reyes, about 15 minutes from Madrid-Barajas airport; the company moved there in 1994. Alongside the rental side, it sells new and used motorhomes as the official Carado dealer for the Madrid region. The reviews back it up: around 4.7 out of 5 across roughly 381 Google reviews, and a "Good" 73% on Motorhome Republic from more than 100 reviews.
Since 2010 Autocaravan Express has run an all-Carado fleet (Carado is an Erwin Hymer Group brand), built on the Fiat Ducato chassis with a 2.3-litre MultiJet engine, 140 CV as standard and 160 CV optional. The lineup splits into four ranges. Action covers the high-volume campers: Carado Vlow 540 (2 berths), Vlow 600 (3) and Vlow 601 (4). Urban is the camperised Dacia Lodgy at 2 berths. Family holds the low-profile perfiladas, the V-132 (2-3), V-337 and V-339 (2 each), and the T-series (T-334 sleeping 5, the rest typically 4). Comfort is the alcove capuchinas, A-361, A-461 and A-464, each sleeping 6. Across the range, confirmed sleeping capacity runs from 2 to 6 berths.
From the Madrid depot at A-1 km 24, an all-Carado fleet runs year-round across the peninsula. Pick up in Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia or Bilbao and point the van anywhere.
Autocaravan Express offers five Spanish collection cities: Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia and Bilbao. Madrid is the main depot, with a physical base on the A-1 motorway at km 24 in San Sebastian de los Reyes, roughly 15 minutes from Barajas airport. The other four are pickup points rather than full depots; Barcelona, for example, is an airport meet-and-greet. Note that non-Madrid pickups may be unavailable in July, August and Easter week. Sevilla is not a pickup location.
It depends on how long you hire for. Rentals of seven days or more include unlimited mileage in every season, so a two-week loop through Andalucia or up to the Picos de Europa never racks up a per-kilometre bill. Short weekend rentals of three days work differently: you get 800 km included, then pay 0.35 euro for each extra kilometre. On any trip of a week or longer, mileage simply doesn't affect what you pay.
Every rental includes fully comprehensive insurance (seguro a todo riesgo) valid across the EU, with a 700 euro excess (franquicia). That is the most you can be liable for per claim under the standard policy. Separately, a refundable 700 euro security deposit is blocked on the main driver's credit card (Visa, Mastercard or Maestro) at pickup. Autocaravan Express doesn't offer an excess buy-down, so to cover that 700 euro exposure, look at standalone excess-reimbursement insurance.
Yes. Cross-border travel through Europe (Portugal, France and the wider EU plus Switzerland) is standard, and 24-hour roadside assistance covers Europe and Morocco. Only Morocco requires special documentation and written authorisation. One-way rentals between bases are offered subject to availability and a supplement. For returns outside Madrid, Barcelona or Malaga, the minimum hire is 12 days within mainland Spain and 15 days for the rest of Europe, unless you catch one of the periodic free 7-day relocation offers.
Standard rentals include comprehensive insurance, 24-hour assistance and, on hires of seven days or more, unlimited mileage plus a free airport transfer. The kitchen kit (42 euro) and bed-and-bath linen (24 euro per person) are paid extras on shorter hires but free on rentals of 18 days or more, which also throw in a child seat. The fleet is all-Carado on Fiat Ducato chassis, two to six berths, with an average vehicle age around 12 months. Camping table and chairs cost extra.
CampervanPlanet lets you compare Autocaravan Express against other Spanish operators side by side, then book the Carado model and pickup city that suit your trip. You choose your dates, pickup point (Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia or Bilbao) and vehicle, and confirm online. Prices are quoted in euros across three seasons, with the balance and the 700 euro deposit typically due about 15 days before departure. Same fleet, same 700 euro excess, with the convenience of comparing real availability and rates in one place.
